KareVan Productions is a partnership between TDC Entertainment Inc., based in Toronto, Ontario and Karen Murray of Dawson City, Yukon and aims to bring spectacular live entertainment to the Yukon!  Our current project to produce three outstanding shows (performed daily) for Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall in Dawson City, Yukon. TDC Entertainment Inc. has been creating and producing high quality live entertainment in the very competitive Toronto, Ontario market since 2002 (over twenty years!).

Karen Murray has been performing and choreographing shows across the world, including seven seasons dancing at Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall, Yukon.

KareVan Productions is hiring a Stagehand for the 2024 season of shows at Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall in Dawson City, Yukon.

Dates:
Tuesday nights starting immediately- September 21st


About the Show:
KareVan Productions operates 3 different shows per evening, 7 days per week from May- September inside the historic Diamond Tooth Gerties. Each show consists of 2 vocalists, a 2 piece band and 3-4 dancers. The shows are at 8:30pm 10pm and Midnight and consist of:

  • a gold rush themed show set in 1898 featuring can-can dancing and ragtime music
  • a classy cabaret, featuring notable jazz/modern hits with a vintage feel
  • a through the decades show, featuring the biggest hits of the past 70 years

    STAGEHAND

Job Description:

The Stagehand works to ensure onstage elements of the show such as costumes, sets, props and curtains are consistently executed each night.   This person will also ensure backstage runs smoothly including calling pre show times, organizing backstage, pulling curtains, and moving set pieces and props. This person will be responsible for making sure photos with the cast run smoothly and that cast mingling is timely.

Duties:

  • Making adjustments to sets during the show, and between shows
  • Take direction form the Stage Co-ordinator or Producer regarding changes to the shows
  • Assisting performers backstage
  • Ensure the stage, and backstage area are kept tidy and safe during all performances 
  • Move and set up all set pieces and props before, during and after the show
  • Pull curtains during the show
  • Manage cast photos with guests following shows 1 & 2
  • Give performers pre show calls 

Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and move large set pieces
  • Attention to detail
  • Organized, punctual, responsible
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • Ability to work unsupervised and also within a team
  • Previous experience working backstage in a theatre setting an asset
  • Able to provide creative solutions in a fast paced environment 

Pay & Hours:

  • $20/hour for training, $22/hour thereafter
  • 7:45pm- 12:45am every Tuesday
